As Texans, we enjoy our food. As we switch our focus from the Civil War, we will be turning our eyes and stomachs to “America’s Native Nut,” the nutritious and delicious pecan. We consume pecans in our salads, our ice cream, in pralines and pies, yet we do not know how it has impacted our lives and our history. That is why we have chosen Dr. James McWilliam’s book, “The Pecan: A History of America’s Native Nut” as our book for April.
Award winning chef Shawn Brock calls The Pecan “a fascinating and informative journey…that really makes you respect the pecan when it comes time to put it on the plate.”
UT Press has kindly provided us with 10 free copies of this wonderfully delicious book.To receive one of the free books, comment below, “I would like a free copy,” and be sure to email your name and mailing address to firstname.lastname@example.org. You would be nuts to pass this book up!
Our chat with Dr. James McWilliams will take place on Wednesday, May 7th.
