Katie Whitehurst is a second-year graduate student in the Public History Program at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.  As a graduate student, she helped plan and execute the Wilson Pottery exhibit at the Sebastopol House in Seguin, Texas, and is the book group facilitator for the Texas PBS Online Book Group.  Prior to beginning graduate school, Katie was a United States History teacher, Social Studies Department Chair, and the Head Boys and Girls Tennis Coach at A.N. McCallum High School in Austin, Texas.

As a teacher, Katie attended several Humanities Texas Teacher Institutes and was a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Scholar at the Pearl Harbor: History, Memory and Memorial workshop in Honolulu, Hawaii.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree, with a double major in History and Political Science, from Texas State University-San Marcos.
